| Legal and Community Involvement Born and raised in Ottawa, David has developed strong ties in this community. Most of his business comes from referrals from other lawyers, medical professionals and previous clients. David is happily married to an educator, who works with the public school board with whom he has three wonderful children. He is a volunteer coach in a local minor hockey and soccer league. He is also a volunteer with REACH Canada, an organization that helps people with disabilities. David is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association, the Advocates’ Society, the Ottawa Valley Brain Injury Association, the Canadian Paraplegic Association and the County of Carleton Law Association. David is on the executive of the REACH education committee. He keeps up to date on the latest legal development through regular participation in continuing legal education courses. David regularly acts as a guest instructor at the University of Ottawa faculty of law, teaching the trial advocacy course to third year law students: future lawyers learning practical advocacy skills. David, through the Ontario Bar Association, also volunteers as a peer mentor for law students at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Common Law. Also through the Ontario Bar Association, David conducts mock trials with elementary school students to assist in educating young students on the legal process in Canada. David participates in The Shoot For A Cure lawyers hockey game which is a campaign which seeks to raise funds for spinal cord research, to raise awareness of spinal cord injuries in hockey and to promote prevention of hockey-related spinal cord injuries through the Play it Cool™ prevention program. David also supports The Canadian Paraplegic Association, The Muscular Dystrophy Association, The Canadian Cancer Society, The Arthritis Society, The Canadian Blind, as well as a number of other charities and community organizations.
