Ottawa Accident Lawyers, Personal Injury Lawyer  Ottawa Personal Injury Lawyer David Hollingsworth…Regrettably, this Ottawa accident occurred and as a result 2 men suffered serious personal injury.  I hope these men have a healthy recovery. Both men were rushed to an Ottawa hospital after a single vehicle rollover on Highway 416 near Hunt Club Road Tuesday morning. Paramedics said the driver lost control of the vehicle around 9:50 a.m. The vehicle flipped and landed on its wheels in a ditch between the northbound and southbound lanes.

One occupant of the vehicle was treated for a head laceration and a serious head injury and is in serious but thankfully stable condition. Ottawa cyclists deserve cycling safety, Ottawa personal injury lawyer David Hollingsworth

Ottawa bicycle accident lawyer David Hollingsworth, Cycling Accidents in Ontario….More than 200 cyclists took to Ottawa streets stating: cycling safety deserves our attention. “The message has to be a level of respect and polite sharing of the road,” said Eleanor McMahon. Sadly, McMahon lost her husband to a cycling accident 4 years ago. He served and protected as an Ontario police officer, now she is  protecting his legacy through the “share the road” riding event.

 The ride aims to make ensure no more lives are lost because of a battle between bicycle and car. 2 weeks ago, a 53-year-old cyclist died on Boyce Street in Ottawa’s west end. The loss was felt by Ottawa’s strong cycling community. It was also not that  long ago that Ottawa was devastated by the bizarre Ottawa cycling accident that injured 5 cyclists.  ”It raises a lot of emotions in me because we are still going through rehabilitation,” said cyclist Cathy Anderson. She was one of 5 cyclists who survived  that serious bicycle accident in Kanata last July. Cycling enthusiasts at the event say it will take public education and determination to make sure the message sinks in. McMahon says the rides will help raise money as they get ready to approach the government. The group wants a law that will enforce a one-metre rule between cyclist and vehicle.

 The following are some common types of collisions that a cyclist may suffer pesonal injury in:

  • A motor vehicle driver turning directly in front of a bicyclist;
  • An automobile driver entering the street from a driveway or parking spot and pulls out into traffic in front of the bicyclist;
  • A motorist’s failure to yield at an intersection or running a stop sign or red light;
  • A vehicle driver’s inattention while driving past a bicyclist;
  • An automobile driver’s failure to look both ways when resuming travel after stopping at a stop sign;
  • An automobile driver is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

There is very little protection for a rider involved in a bicycle accident and bicycle injuries can be very severe. If you have been involved in a bicycle or cycling accident, you may need the help of  an experienced bicycle accident lawyer.  David Hollingsworth is an experienced Ontario personal injury lawyer who can help guide you through the process and make sure you are financially covered in the future. Free consultations www.ottawainjury.ca or call 613 978-9549

Ottawa Senators Dr Chow accident results in critical personal injuries, Ottawa injury lawyer

Ottawa Accident Lawyers, Ottawa Personal Injury Lawyer David Hollingsworth…My thoughts are with Dr Chow and his family.  I hope his recovery is quick and full.  Dr. Donald Chow, an orthopedic surgeon who works with the Ottawa Senators, suffered serious critical personal  injuries in a car accident on his motorcycle in Ottawa Saturday. He remains in critical condition at the Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital, with his family by his side. Chow, 53, was riding his motorcycle Saturday afternoon, when a car pulled out in front of him. Dr. Chow was thrown from his motorcycle when it slammed into the side of the car, according to Ottawa police. He suffered serious head and chest injuries. The woman driving the car was transported to an Ottawa hospital with minor personal injury. Her car was seriously damaged in the collision. Ottawa police could not say whether charges will be laid.

update:

OTTAWA — A team doctor with the Ottawa Senators was still in critical condition in hospital Monday morning after his motorcycle collided with a car Saturday afternoon. Dr. Donald Chow, 53, was riding his motorcycle northbound on Fisher Avenue near Kintyre Private just before 3 p.m. Saturday, when a car pulled out in front of him. Chow was thrown from his motorcycle when it slammed into the side of the car, according to police. He suffered serious head and chest injuries. The woman driving the car was transported to hospital with minor injuries. Her car was seriously damaged . Police could not say whether charges will be laid.

People who saw the scene after the crash described the car as being “all dented,” with two shattered windows. The car had come to a stop on the southwest corner of Fisher Avenue and Kyntire Private, and Chow landed on the northwest corner.

 Allison Neill, director of public affairs at the Ottawa Hospital, confirmed Monday morning that Chow remains in critical condition at the Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital. Chow has been with the Senators since their NHL debut in the 1992-1993 season. He is one of six team doctors who work with the team.

“The entire Senators family wishes Dr. Chow a full recovery and our thoughts and support are with him and his family,” said a statement from the Senators hockey club, issued Sunday afternoon. Members of the team respected the wishes of Chow’s family and did not provide comment to media Sunday night. Chow is an orthopedic surgeon at the Ottawa Hospital and an assistant professor in the orthopedic surgery division at the University of Ottawa

Ottawa Car Accident- Ontario personal injury lawyer-David Hollingsworth

Ottawa Accident Lawyers, Ontario Personal Injury Lawyers…..Ontario Insurance Claims Lawyer, Ottawa Personal Injury Lawyer David Hollingsworth…Luckily for one Ottawa man, his instincts kicked in and he escaped what could have any even more serious situation…I hope everyone involved a full and healthy recovery…Ottawa Paramedics said the driver of a car involved in a bizarre collision on Highway 417 southeast of Ottawa is lucky to be alive after he exited his car immediately following a 2-car accident and just before a third vehicle rammed into his driver-side seat. The incident began when a Ford Focus travelling eastbound on the 417 near Boundary Road veered onto the median and rolled several times before ending up in the westbound lane of the highway, colliding with a Chevy Aveo.

“The distance between the eastbound and westbound lanes is probably a good hundred metres and there’s a fairly big ditch for a vehicle to veer off and go into oncoming traffic, so it’s pretty rare in that area,” said Ottawa paramedic Francois Coté, who was part of the team that responded to the scene just after 9 p.m.

Paramedics said the driver of the Aveo, a 45-year-old man got out of his car, just before a 4-door Honda rammed the driver-side door. Paramedics from Ottawa and Prescott Russell arrived at the scene and said they couldn’t believe the driver of the Aveo was only complaining of shoulder pain after they saw the state of his car.

“This gentleman here was very lucky,” said Coté. “He came in contact with the Ford Focus which from what we were told by bystanders was a moderate collision. But he got out of his vehicle but then another Honda rammed into his vehicle right typically where he would be seated…[and] the seating compartment where the driver would be in was pushed in. He’s lucky to still be alive today.”

The driver and passenger of the Focus, both 18-year-old women, were both treated and taken to hospital as a precaution. The driver appeared uninjured and the passenger had cuts on both arms and pain in her hip and left leg.

The driver of the Aveo was also taken to hospital. The 46-year-old male driver of the Honda complained of chest discomfort from the deployment of an airbag but refused treatment. His 14-year-old daughter was also taken to hospital with injuries caused by the deployment of the airbag. The highway’s westbound lanes were temporary closed for the cleanup. Ontario Provincial Police are investigating.

Ontario Accident Benefits Lawyer, Limitations and Compensations

Ontario Accident Benefits Lawyer, David Hollingsworth…Obtaining an Ontario personal injury lawyer after an accident in Ontario is important to protect your rights and ensure you receive ALL the compensation you are entitled to.  The province of Ontario has many time limitations  when it comes to seeking compensation for personal injuries due to a motor vehicle accident and other Ontario accidents. Often times, just figuring out if you need an Ontario personla injury lawyer is your first concern after an Ontario a car accident, bicycle accident, motorcycle accident, or slip and fall accident.

When you have been involved in an Ontario accident and you would like to pursue applying for Ontario accident benefits compensation from your insurance company, you are responsible for notifying the insurer within 7 days of the date of the Ontario accident. In some cases the personal injuries you suffer  may be so serious that you are unable to apply for Ontario accident benefits within the 7 day grace period, in which case you must do it asap. Once the insurance company has sent the accident benefit  forms you will then have 30 days from the point you receive the accident benefit application to return the forms back to your insurance company. If you fail to meet these timelines, don’t worry- all is not lost as long as there is a reasonable excuse for the forms being returned late.

The Ontario Insurance Act states the following; when attempting to obtain compensation due to loss, damage from bodily personal injury or wrongful death arising from the use or operation of an automobile the plaintiff (injured party) must present written notice to start a lawsuit against the defendant within 120 days of the Ontario accident and a law suit can not be started after 2 years  of the original claim .

Recovery after a traumatic personal injury can be a very complicated and stressful  time and a top personal injury lawyer can help you through difficult times, helping you with medical reports, insurance adjusters and complicated insurance forms.

Stittsville accident ends in personal injury and death, Ottawa lawyer

Ottawa Accident Lawyer, Ottawa Personal Injury Lawyer David Hollingsworth…Regrettably, one woman has died and others have suffered serious personal injury.  I wish everyone involved a full and healthy recovery. One  woman is dead and another has suffered serious personal injury and is in critical condition after a two-car Ottawa accident on Highway 7 in Ottawa’s west end yesterday afternoon. Ottawa Paramedics said there were 6 people involved in the accident, 5  in one car and one in the other. Sadly, a woman passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. 4 other people were taken to Ottawa hospital, one of them by helicopter. The sixth person was uninjured. The woman passenger who was flown to the Ottawa hospital was in critical condition, with serious personal injury. Another woman and two men have personal injuries that were not considered life threatening. The Ottawa accident happened near Jinkinson Road, which is just southwest of Stittsville.

Ottawa Personal Injury Lawyers: UPDATE

OTTAWA — The car crash that killed one woman on Saturday and injured two of her sisters has sent shock waves through the siblings’ large, extended family. The survivors of Claudette Clement gathered at the Ottawa Hospital’s Civic campus on Monday to support those injured in the car crash. Sylvie Paquette, whose mother, Yolande Charette, suffered a broken vertebrae, said the family is very close. “My mother was one of five sisters, five brothers. But, now they are only four (sisters),” Paquette said, adding that the siblings had 27 grandchildren and 33 great grandchilren in total. “We’re a good, harmonious family; we are always there for each other, it’s incredible.” Clement, 67, of Plaisance, Que., was killed in the two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 7 near Stittsville on Saturday afternoon. She had been travelling with her two sisters, Yolande, 66, and Monique Charette, 63. The car was driven by Pierre Duvall, 66, Yolande’s common-law partner.

The green 2010 Toyota Camry was travelling westbound on the highway when Duvall apparently pulled onto the right shoulder before making a left turn toward a designated emergency vehicle U-turn area. An oncoming black 2009 Hyundai Elantra then broadsided the Camry. Duvall and the two surviving sisters were taken to hospital. Duvall and Yolande suffered minor personal injury. Monique, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was listed in serious condition. Paquette said Monique was in a coma and her mother Yolande was in a lot of pain. Paquette said that due to the strong medications, her mother has not fully absorbed all the details of the crash, including Clement’s death. “It is better like that for the moment.” Clement and most of her six or seven children lived in Plaisance, Que., said Paquette, adding that Clement’s husband died four years ago. Funeral arrangements had not been finalized Monday evening.

The Hyundai’s driver, David MacDiarmid, 31, and his 33-year-old passenger were taken to hospital with minor personal injury. Police said MacDiarmid tried to slow down, but was unable to avoid the collision.Paquette said alcohol could not have been a factor in the crash as her stepfather, who had open-heart surgery eight months ago, does not drink. The crash remained under OPP investigation. © Copyright (c) The Ottawa Citizen
