Halloween is just around the corner…Please for the safety of all, take a moment to discuss with your children how to stay safe. I also want to remind all drivers out there to be extra vigilant. The kids are undoubtedly wound up and looking for cars both ways before they cross the street may not be on their minds.
Most of all, have fun. Please remember….
- Kids can’t eat snacks while they’re out trick-or-treating. Please remind your children that it is best to wait until they return home and you have had an adult go through their treat bags, to ensure that there is nothing unsafe.
- It’s always best to feed children before hand so they aren’t hungry while they are out there and be tempted to snack.
- Remind your child not to accept/ eat that isn’t commercially wrapped.
- Go through your child’s loot bag to ensure that there are no hazards such as small toys, bubblegum, peanuts, or hard candies.
- Ensure that your child knows where to go if they get lost or need help.
- Ensure your child is supervised or follow the buddy system.
- Remind your child about the number of cars 0ut there and how crossing the street to run to the next house needs to be done in a safe manner.
- Children should stay in well-lit areas and should only visit homes that have outside lights on. Children should never go inside homes or cars.
Hallowe’en can be such a fun night, watching the kids run around with excitement. This year, in our house we have a bumblebee, a skeleton and a crazy hockey fan who can’t wait for the 31st to roll around. I hope you have a great , safe night . Trick or Treat !
