3 Ottawa bicycle accidents results in head injury, lacerations and other serious personal injury.

Ottawa Personal Injury Lawyer David Hollingsworth…Ottawa cyclists were out on the roads yesterday but sadly, many of their commutes were not safe.  Ottawa Paramedics responded to 3 separate Ottawa bicycle accidents in a span of 41 minutes yesterday morning:

-Ottawa paramedics helped  a 42-year-old man with scrapes and an injury to his collar-bone after he was hit at Baseline Road and Farlane Boulevard in Ottawa’s east end.

-A 30-year-old man was hit on Prince of Wales Drive near Waterford Drive in  Ottawa’s south end.  When Ottawa paramedics arrived at the Ottawa accident scene, he was unconscious and was  treated for a head injury. He was taken to an Ottawa hospital in serious but stable condition.

-A 25-year-old man was hit while cycling at the intersection of Hunt Club Road and Bank Street in  Ottawa’s south end. He suffered an arm injury and lacerations to his knee.  He was taken to an Ottawa hospital in stable condition.

These recent Ottawa bicycle accidents bring the issue of Ottawa’ s cycling safety to the forefront.  There are far too many cycling accidents and deaths each year in Ottawa.  Most of these accidents are avoidable.  Both cyclists and drivers need to be aware of their surroundings and respect the rules of the road.  We can’t continue to have these, or even worse cycling accidents in Ottawa.

Stage collapses at Ottawa’s Bluesfest seconds after Cheap Trick. Serious personal injuries reported.

Ottawa Accident, Ottawa Injury Lawyer David Hollingsworth reports…Last night’s storm in Ottawa left thousands running around Bluesfest , fearing for their lives. Ottawa’s  Bluesfest came to a quick end when the main stage collapsed 20 minutes into a performance by Cheap Trick last night, after   a sudden thunderstorm violently rolled through Ottawa.

It was reported that 3 people were sent to an Ottawa hospital with serious personal injuries. Ottawa paramedics said they responded to multiple personal  injuries after the stage collapsed around 7:20 p.m., including a 49-year-old man who suffered very traumatic personal injuries including an injured abdomen, pelvis and upper leg injuries. Another man was treated for a possible spinal injury.

Cheap Trick was on stage performing at the time when the  black clouds rolled into the area and the band left the stage just moments before it collapsed.

I happen to me making my way to Bluesfest at the time and was shocked when suddenly the winds picked up, sand started flying everywhere, garbage cans were flying around, hitting cars.  My wife and I ran inside a restaurant to seek shelter and watch the mini tornado run through Preston street, causing damage along the way.

A Bluesfest spokesperson was quoted by CTV saying  ”A giant gust of wind picked up a tarp and garbage from across the field and flung it toward the audience and lifted the whole stage — where Cheap Trick had been playing — and almost like a convertible in a car, just folded it backwards in the same direction,” .

Ottawa Bluesfest concert attendees reported that the stage collapsed in seconds and seemed to get swallowed up by the wind, in less than 10 seconds. After that people started running around screaming in fear. There are many messages all over twitter reporting that the Bluesfest staff and volunteers handled the situation very well.

Cheap Trick also posted a message on Facebook saying no one in the band was suffered injuries. they wrote “Everyone is okay and we are so lucky to be alive and hope that all the fans are okay, too,” They also posted a picture of some of the destruction at the Ottawa Bluesfest scene. Obviously once the lightning was flashing, Bluesfest’s final act Death Cab for Cutie was cancelled.

Many areas in the Ottawa region were hit hard by the storm. Thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 96 km/h started around 7:30 and never really stopped. Many trees were brought down and power was lost in several parts of the city, with most of the damage from the storm was located in the Ottawa’s south and west. Still, this morning, many areas are without power. Ottawa police reported that they received 300 emergency calls in a two-hour period, in addition to those from Bluesfest.

Ottawa Accident Avoided Thanks to Smart Driving, Ottawa Lawyer David Hollingsworth

Ottawa Motor Vehicle Accident Lawyer David Hollingsworth…Just read that a peculiar Ottawa accident occurred yesterday morning. A shovel came off of what is assumed to be a truck, the shovel landed on the vehicle behind it. The shovel landed flat on the windshield severely damaging it. The driver of the car, a woman, was thankfully unharmed. She had the composure to safely pull over to the side of the road without causing any accidents. Thank goodness, had the shovel landed differently on the windshield the woman may have suffered serious injuries as opposed to a scare. It is imperative that driver’s securely tie down any objects that can come off during transportation.  Please drive safely out there !

Slip and fall accidents lawyers Ottawa, Law firms Ottawa Ontario

Ottawa Slip and Fall Accidents Lawyer David Hollingsworth…It’s really snowing out here today Ottawa…Watch where you step and walk !

Leading Ottawa based lawyer David Hollingsworth, shares his recommendations for the winter season and Slip and Fall Injuries.

It’s really snowing here in today Ottawa! Please ensure to watch your step! Many often forget to fully consider the potential for personal injury and the associated ramifications of pain and suffering. Even a minor slip can lead you to much stress and tension on you and your loved ones. A slip and fall injury can result in massive medical bills, loss of work, lost wages and more. If a slip and fall injury happens to you, an Ottawa personal injury lawyer can explain to you what your rights are and make sure your interests are protected.

How to Protect Yourself and Your Family:

I deal with a tremendous number and variety of slip and fall accidents on a regular basis each year. Such injuries can happen at any time of the year, and in any location or setting. However, there are certain conditions that render the possibility of injury more likely, so please on to learn how to protect you and your family from the prospect of injury, and to learn what to do in the event that you have been hurt by a slip and fall injury.

Scenario:

There are certain circumstances where the city will be responsible for your injury. For example, imagine you are walking down the street at night. As you try to cross the street, you approach an open man-hole (the city has neglected to put the cover back after working on the sewer system earlier in the evening). Naturally given the lack of light, you do not see the open manhole and fall right through, experiencing broken bones, fractures, and lacerations. Perhaps your injuries are more psychological in nature because you are trapped in the manhole for several hours screaming for help.

Who is Responsible?

The city would be responsible (through the action of one of it’s employees) for their negligence and your injuries. There are many other instances where slip and fall injuries could occur, such as (1) flooring/carpeting in poor repair (2) parking lot surfaces in poor repair (3) ice and snow buildup (4) elevators/escalators/stairways (5) areas with poor lighting, (6) and so on.

Your Compensation:

Depending on the circumstances of injury, your recovery could include compensation to help with stress and tension, medical bills, lost wages, and so on. A good Ottawa personal injury lawyer can give you an idea of what you may be entitled to. Business and property owners have a legal responsibility to ensure that people on their establishment or property are safe and not at risk of suffering an injury. If an accident has happened to you, it may be due to the negligence of a property owner who has failed to act according to their due diligence responsibilities to keep you and your family and loved ones safe.

If your slip and fall accident happened in the Ottawa or the Eastern Ontario area because a property owner failed to keep you safe, David Hollingsworth, one of the best Ottawa personal injury lawyers can help you recover the costs of your medical bills, lost wages, and awards for pain and suffering. With his knowledge and extensive experience, he is the Ottawa personal injury lawyer that can help get the maximum possible awards for slip and fall injury victims and help them recover as best as possible.
