The 81-year-old was struck by an OC Transpo bus on Bank Street at James Street, paramedics said. The Ottawa Paramedic Service said it received a call at about 12:09 p.m. and arrived to find the woman on the ground with a possible dislocated shoulder and complaining of head and back pain.She was transported to hospital.

Then just before 1 o’clock, an ambulance was called to a two-car collision at the intersection of Brierwood and Dovercourt avenues in the west end. The 82-year-old woman was in cardiac arrest, receiving CPR from two employees of the Dovercourt Recreation Centre who had witnessed the crash, the paramedic service said. The paramedics’ resuscitation efforts didn’t succeed, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The 23-year-old driver of the other car and her eight-day-old son were uninjured in the collision.
