Ottawa cycling accident Rockliffe Parkway and Aviation Parkway results in serious head injury, ankle injury and shoulder injury.
Ottawa Bicycle Accident Lawyers David Hollingsworth and Associates.. Sadly, I knew it wouldn’t be long with this warm weather. A Ottawa cycling accident has occurred; however this Ottawa cycling accident was between 2 cyclists. A 56-year-old cyclist suffered a serious head injury when his bicycle hit another cyclist on the Rockliffe Parkway this afternoon. The second cyclist was stopped at the side of the road, east of the Aviation Parkway when he was struck.
The impact was significant and the cyclist was thrown into the air upon impact. He was rushed to a Ottawa hospital in serious but thankfully stable condition. The other cyclist was treated for a serious ankle injury and shoulder injury and was also rushed to a Ottawa hospital in stable condition. I hope both cyclists are able to recover from this accident.
Cyclists have many rights to compensation when it comes to insurance claims and medical coverage. It is always best to consult with a Ottawa personal injury lawyer if you have been involved in a Ottawa cycling accident or a cycling accident in Ontario.

Ottawa Personal Injury Lawyer David Hollingsworth: Tips for avoiding Ottawa bicycle accidents,
Posted by Ottawa Personal Injury Lawyer, Ottawa Accident Lawyer, David Hollingsworth in Ottawa Injury and Accidents, bicycle /cycling accidents, safety on May 12th, 2012
Ottawa Bicycle Accident Lawyers…Sadly, 200 cycling accidents happen in Ottawa every year. Citizens for Safe Cycling is promoting bike education throughout Mountain Equipment Co-op’s Bikefest at LeBreton Flats tomorrow. In 2010, 5 Ottawa cyclists died on their bicycles and cyclists in Ottawa are 10 times more likely to be involved in an accident than cars. Citizens for Safe Cycling explained one of the most common accidents on Ottawa’s roads is when drivers make a right turn without looking for cyclists and cut them off.
The following tips were provided by Citizens for Safe Cycling when it comes to safe cycling in Ottawa:
Obey the law: red lights, stop signs and the rules of the road.
Don’t ride on sidewalks.
Don’t ride the wrong way down a one-way street.
Signal: “Be sure to signal all of your intentions in advance, that way motorists and other cyclists will know what you’re doing.”
Be aware: Give yourself space to maneuver and shoulder check to make sure you know where the other vehicles are.
Prepare your ride: Wear a helmet. Make sure your bike is in good condition.
Know your route: Use Ottawa’s bike maps
MEC Bikefest is happening tomorrow at LeBreton Flats from 11 am to 4pm with exhibitor displays, bike demos, safety education, workshops and family fun.
Have fun and safe cycling….

Ottawa Injury Lawyer David Hollingsworth: Drunk Driving Ottawa accident Carling Avenue: Cyclist Nathan Anderson dies in Ottawa Hospital
Ottawa Personal Injury Lawyer David Hollingsworth, www.ottawainjury.ca Regrettably I have terrible news to share with you. Sadly, Nathan Anderson died today in an Ottawa hospital. What a very tragic death. My thoughts go out to his grieving family and friends….
original post: Unfortunately I do not have better news to share at this time. Nathan Anderson remains comatose and in critical condition in an Ottawa hospital. The man who hit him got out of jail today after a bail hearing in Ottawa court. Glen Carkner was released on a $32,000 bond and ordered to abstain from alcohol and drugs. He was also forbidden to drive a car. Glen Carkner has been in jail since the February 1 tragic accident that left cyclist Nathan Anderson in an Ottawa hospital with a critical head injury.
Ottawa cyclist Nathan Anderson was seriously injured yesterday afternoon when he was hit by what was reported as a drunk driver (charges have been laid ) on Carling Avenue . The terrible Ottawa accident has left him with critical injuries and possibly a brain injury, in an Ottawa hospital. Glen Carkner was charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving causing bodily harm in connection with the Ottawa accident. The cyclist, is a 31-year-old man, and it was rteported that he suffered critical head injuries. Nathan Anderson, remains in an hospital in critical but thankfully stable condition. My thoughts go out to his friends and family of Nathan Anderson…He will have a long and difficult road ahead of him and will need a lot of support.
Carkner was arrested at the Ottawa accident scene by Ottawa police. Minutes earlier staff at the Hampton Park Plaza LCBO had seen him staggering into the LCBO, crashing into several signs and a guard rai. Trained LCBO staff refused to sell Carkner alcohol and called Ottawa police. Shortly there after, Carkner’s car struck the Ottawa cyclist just a few blocks away on Carling Avenue near Archibald Street.
There are far too many accidents in Ottawa that are the result of impaired driving. It needs to stop. Yes, accident victims will be entitled to injury compensation and claims benefits for personal injuries , but these accidents change their lives and the lives of their families forever.
What a terrible, avoidable accident …
