Ottawa Accident Lawyer David Hollingsworth..Be careful out there, it’s slippery. Ottawa received about six-hours of freezing rain earlier this morning. The rain worked its way across the region and then tuned to snow late this morning. What this means for Ottawa is a nice layer of snow covering the ice. This makes for very slippery road conditions. Both drivers and pedestrians need to be extra cautious.
Ottawa commuters need to leave extra time to get to their destinations and expect a slower than normal drive.
Ottawa roads are very slick, and most are covered with a slush layer, making driving very treacherous. Ottawa Police, paramedics and fire rescue crews were busy all day responding to dozens of Ottawa accidents, especially along the Hwy 417, Hwy. 416 and Hwy. 174 , where there have been a high number of serious Ottawa accidents. Hwy. 138 has been shut due to a serious crash between Willy Allen Rd. and Bonville (in the St. Andrews area, north of Cornwall). The eastbound lanes of Hwy. 401 have also been closed at mile marker 756 near Morrisburg due to another serious accident.
Ottawa’s weather has also unfortunately resulted closed the Rideau Canal Skateway this morning. National Capital Commission has been working hard to keep the Rideau Canal open this weekend for the thousands of visitors coming to Ottawa for the NHL All-Star Weekend.
As the day goes on, Ottawa roads are getting better but will likely freeze again tonight. Drive, walk and cycle carefully and slowly. Please give yourself the extra braking time.

Ottawa Pedestrian Accident Lawyer David Hollingsworth, Dwyer Hill Road is now reopened after car accident involving a pedestrian who was out for a jog last Sunday morning between Fallowfield and Flewellyn roads. The 36 year old female accident victim suffered very serious personal injuries when she was hit by a car and thrust into a ditch sometime around 10 a.m. She was knocked unconscious and suffered a severe head injury, possibly a brain injury. Ottawa Paramedics had to immobilize her spinal cord for fear of a spinal cord injury, as well as set up several intravenous lines and dressings before moving her by air ambulance to the Ottawa trauma centre. Thankfully, Ottawa Police reported that her personal injuries were not life-threatening. It was reported that nearby residents came to her aid and remained with her until help arrived. I hope to be able to give you an update on extent of the personal injuries.

This is a story of yet another tragedy in our community. This accident occurred in Ottawa and involved two men who suffered from serious personal injury secondary to their tragic accident. I hope and wish both these men a recovery and return to health and wellbeing. Both men were rushed to hospital in Ottawa secondary to a single vehicle rollover on our Highway 416 near Hunt Club Road Tuesday morning. Emergency Medical Service attendants advise that the driver lost control of the vehicle in the late morning, around 9:50 a.m. Apparently, the automobile flipped and landed on its wheels in a ditch between the northbound and southbound lanes. Scary stuff, to say the least. One occupant of the vehicle was treated for injuries including a head laceration, and a severe head injury. He is in a serious condition, but the prospects seem stable. The other motorvehicle occupant was treated for rib cage damage and is in stable condition. Both men, reported to be in their twenties in age, were taken to hospital and the police service have not immediately commented upon what may have caused the collision or whether or not the two men were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

I hope she recovers fully from this Ottawa accident…..At Ottawa’s CHEO, a 9 year old girl remained in serious, but stable condition yesterday after a car accident where a car crashed into a pole near the westbound Queensway off-ramp at Richmond Road on Monday night, according to Ottawa police.The young girl was in the back seat of the car when the Ottawa accident occurred and was taken to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario with life-threatening personal injury. The female driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening personal injury. It was not been confirmed whether the child was wearing a seat belt.
