Dr. Donald Chow’s condition was upgraded from critical to serious, a hospital spokesperson said. Chow, 53, was driving his motorcycle on Fisher Avenue in Ottawa last Saturday just before 3 p.m., when he collided with a car at the intersection with Kintyre Private. Chow suffered severe head and chest injuries, paramedics said. The elderly woman driving the car was transported to hospital with minor injuries, paramedics said. Chow, known as “Doc Chow,” has been with the Senators since 1992, said a media statement on the NHL team’s website. “He’s a very caring person. He’s helped every one of us in one way or another,” general manager Bryan Murray said.

Dr. Donald Chow, an orthopedic surgeon who works with the Ottawa Senators, suffered serious critical personal injuries in a car accident on his motorcycle in Ottawa Saturday. He remains in critical condition at the Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital, with his family by his side. Chow, 53, was riding his motorcycle Saturday afternoon, when a car pulled out in front of him. Dr. Chow was thrown from his motorcycle when it slammed into the side of the car, according to Ottawa police. He suffered serious head and chest injuries. The woman driving the car was transported to an Ottawa hospital with minor personal injury. Her car was seriously damaged in the collision. Ottawa police could not say whether charges will be laid.

OTTAWA — A team doctor with the Ottawa Senators was still in critical condition in hospital Monday morning after his motorcycle collided with a car Saturday afternoon. Dr. Donald Chow, 53, was riding his motorcycle northbound on Fisher Avenue near Kintyre Private just before 3 p.m. Saturday, when a car pulled out in front of him. Chow was thrown from his motorcycle when it slammed into the side of the car, according to police. He suffered serious head and chest injuries. The woman driving the car was transported to hospital with minor injuries. Her car was seriously damaged . Police could not say whether charges will be laid.
People who saw the scene after the crash described the car as being “all dented,” with two shattered windows. The car had come to a stop on the southwest corner of Fisher Avenue and Kyntire Private, and Chow landed on the northwest corner.
Allison Neill, director of public affairs at the Ottawa Hospital, confirmed Monday morning that Chow remains in critical condition at the Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital. Chow has been with the Senators since their NHL debut in the 1992-1993 season. He is one of six team doctors who work with the team.
“The entire Senators family wishes Dr. Chow a full recovery and our thoughts and support are with him and his family,” said a statement from the Senators hockey club, issued Sunday afternoon. Members of the team respected the wishes of Chow’s family and did not provide comment to media Sunday night. Chow is an orthopedic surgeon at the Ottawa Hospital and an assistant professor in the orthopedic surgery division at the University of Ottawa
