I am already looking forward to this coming weekend, the turkey and the potatoes … with the joy of the holidays, it’s also important to consider: long weekends often result in more accidents and more personal injuries, and I’m not just talking about car accidents here … I’m talking about accidents with your turkey!
While it may come across as a surprise to many, there are countless cases of holiday cooking injuries. In particular, deep-frying your turkey can be contraindicated in certain contexts. While a deep friend turkey can taste delicious, it is also hazardous activity to engage in. Cooking with a huge volume of heated oil can spell disaster if the oil begins spattering and contacting your skin.
In some circumstances, oil can attach to a flammable material, igniting and creating an extremely dangerous house-hold fire – endangering the lives of yourself and your loved ones such as your family and friends. In short, we must be aware of the realities of danger even when we are in our most least “suspecting” moments – such as during the seemingly peaceful period of the holidays.
Statistics have shown that many automobile injuries occur close to the home – this is because when we roll into our neighborhood, and onto our community streets – we feel that we can let our “guard down” and relax. Often, it is these moments when we experience personal injury. From the bottom of my heart as I prepare to experience some valuable moments with my dearest family and friends, I also encourage you to do the same and also to please stay safe!
Have a great and safe long weekend…
