Injury and Insurance Lawyers in Ottawa Ontario.
Unfortunately Ontario accidents happen every day. When someone is involved in an accident they typically need to access their accident benefits through either their insurance company or the insurance company of the at fault driver. One of the accident benefits that is most often needed is the medical, rehabilitation and attendant care benefits.
The typical maximum amount for medical and rehabilitation expenses, (physiotherapy, chiropractic treatment, dental expenses, etc..) is $50,000 if your injuries are deemed to be non-catastrophic. If you are deemed to have catastrophic injuries, the standard maximum is $1,000,000 in medical, rehabilitation or attendant care benefits . The standard maximum for attendant care is $36,000. If you are catastrophically injured, the standard maximum is $1,000,000.
Additional optional benefits can be purchased through your insurance company and can cover up to $100,000 or $1,100,000 in medical and rehabilitation expenses as well as $72,000 or $1,072,000 in attendant care expenses, and up to $3,000,000 in combined medical, rehabilitation and attendant care expenses for any one deemed to be catastrophically injured.
While OHIP covers medical visits, it does not cover all health care expenses. If your accident has left you with serious injuries, chances are you will need many treatments that are not covered or partially covered by OHIP such as physiotherapy, chiropractor, mobility devices (crutches, wheelchairs), home modifications, car modifications and other goods and services. These additional medical, rehabilitation and attendant care benefits can make all the difference.
Most serious injuries such as brain injuries, spinal injuries and amputations are permanent and require hundreds of thousands of dollars in treatments and equipment on an ongoing basis. It may even be possible, depending on the severity of your injury that you require attendant care 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
Having all the benefits available to you when you need them is critical. If you are unsure of what Ontario accident benefits you need and can access, we can help you figure it out. We can sit down you and walk you through your options and help you figure out how to get maximum accident benefits.

Compensation for Chronic Pain Injury
I often have people call me and describe their Ottawa accident to me and what has happened to them as the result of an accident in Ontario. They have many questions. The two that I get asked the most are:
Do I have a case and how much is my case worth?
While every case is different, as all personal injuries and all individuals are different, there are often similarities that run throughout similar cases.
We worked closely with “JM” to ensure she received maximum compensation for her injuries. JM was a 58-year-old woman from Embrun, Ontario. One day, she was a passenger in a car driven by her husband. As he went to turn left , they were hit by another vehicle.
Injuries Resulting From Accident:
Compensation For Chronic Pain Injury:
After tough negotiations, we were able to get the insurance company to settle without them having to go to court. JM received $ 240,000 from the tort action and another $325,000 from her Ontario Accident Benefits Insurer. While this $565 000 will never erase the damage that has been done, it can help JM and her husband adjust to a new life with rehabilitation, benefits and support. While we wish we could take back the accident for them, we are grateful to have met them and were able to change their lives in some for the better. Moving forward, we wish them well…
