What can our Ottawa personal injury lawyers do for you ?
Fair question . We receive calls from clients who are about to settle their insurance claim with their adjuster and simply want to know should they ? It’s tough for our injury lawyers to answer this question without reviewing the file. Typically, when we receive a call of this nature, we set up a meeting (no charge) and look through the facts of the case. It’s important that everything be reviewing in case there have been areas of a personal injury file that were not discovered or covered by the insurance company. Almost every time, sure enough, our Ottawa injury lawyers are able to find many expenses that should have been covered or aspects of an accident benefits policy that were not being utilized . That’s not to say that the insurance company was deliberately hiding such coverage, it’s just that often times unless the person injured knows to ask for all the right benefits and coverages, some simply do not come up.
Ottawa injury lawyers analyze your case. Are you getting maximum compensation for your injuries ?
Our personal injury lawyers can analyze your case and in some cases discover that the insurance claim is in fact double or triple what the insurance company is looking to settle for. Thankfully, as long as you have not signed off on the settlement offer, there may still be time to recoup these amounts with the assistance of a personal injury lawyer. This absolutely makes it worth while to consult with an experienced personal injury lawyer. All it will cost you is time; probably close to an hour for this initial consultation. Our Ottawa personal injury lawyers make it even easier and will come to you.
If we think your case is worth more, we will advise you not to settle and we can step in to represent you and prepare a claim for you. It may delay the settlement; however this delay is in our opinion worth it as typically the settlement amount is significantly higher. Not to mention, you will be receiving benefits and treatments you may not have been receiving before our personal injury lawyers stepped in. This will hopefully speed up your recovery process.

Hit and Run Accident
Ottawa Ontario Injury Lawyer David Hollingsworth…A 32-year-old man is in Gatineau police custody after a hit and run accident early Friday morning that left an Ottawa man with serious personal injuries. A 24-year-old man was walking on the Promenade du Portage when he was struck by a car. The 32-year-old driver of the vehicle took off, but was soon apprehended. The accident victim was rushed to the Hull Hospital with head injuries.
Hit and Run accidents can be difficult when it comes to personal injury lawsuits and knowing which insurance companies will pay for what expenses and compensation. Our Ottawa personal injury lawyers have extensive experience with hit and run accidents. In many cases, if the person who is injured in a hit and run accident in Ontario has their own insurance company, they will be able to seek compensation through them. This will not cost the individual. If the injured does not have their own insurance, there are still options. One option is to pursue a personal injury lawsuit through the Ontario Motor Vehicle Accidents Claims Fund; otherwise known as the MVACF. This is a government fund that is designed to protect individuals who are injured and do not have their own insurance company; or are injured in an accident with another party who does not have insurance or who is underinsured.
The MVACF provides financial compensation or statutory accident benefits to people who have been injured or who have no recourse to auto insurance or who are injured in accidents with an uninsured or unidentified driver, such as is the case in a hit and run accident. All this to say, there are options and it’s best anyone involved in an accident seek medical attention first and legal attention second. Our Ottawa personal injury lawyers are available for free consultations and will travel to you to answer any questions and help best determine ways to ensure injured victims receive maximum compensation.

Ontario Injury Lawyer David Hollingsworth, Hit and Run accident
.A 29 year old man was rushed to an Ottawa hospital with serious personal injuries when the vehicle he was driving hit a guard rail . The accident occurred in Manotick on River Road last night and sent the man flying out of his car. The collision took place at around 6:30 p.m. My thoughts are with this man, his family and his friends at this stressful time.
This stretch in Manotick has been the scene of many accidents in Manotick. Depending on the nature of the accident, accident victims and their families may need support, medical attention and compensation. Hopefully most accidents arent too serious and everyone involved walks away uninjured or there are minor injuries that heal quickly. however, this is usually not the case. Often times medical rehabilitation is essential and accident benefits need to be accessed. Not everything is covered under OHIP or private medical insurance plans. Ontario Accident Benefits offer additional coverage; whether it be caregiver expenses, attendant care, or even housekeeping.
Ottawa Personal Injury Lawyer David Hollingsworth.. 2 Ottawa accidents resulted in 2 pedestrians suffering personal injuries in Ottawa’s ByWard Market yesterday morning. The first Ottawa pedestrian accident involved an elderly woman who was rushed to an Ottawa hospital with serious personal injuries, including chest and back injuries. She was hit by a car at Sussex Drive and Murray Street. Thankfully she is in stable condition.
Also in Ottawa’s Bytown Market, on Rideau and Dalhousie streets, a young woman was treated for serious personal injuries, including a leg injury after being hit by a car. She too is in an Ottawa hospital in stable condition.
I wish both women a full and hopefully speedy recovery….

Ottawa Ontario Personal Injury Lawyer David Hollingsworth www.ottawainjury.ca Steps of an Ontario Personal Injury Lawsuit : Examination for Discovery
What is an Examination for Discovery in an Ontario personal injury lawsuit? An examination for discovery is a very important step of an Ontario personal injury lawsuit. It allows for questions to be asked under oath. It also allows both sides to share documents that relate to the Ontario personal injury lawsuit. All parties in an Ontario law suit have an obligation to list and give copies of all documents that are relevant to the Ontario personal injury law suit in a sworn affidavit. This is often the time when additional evidence will surface. This is also the stage in an Ontario personal injury lawsuit when the insurance company will be able to ask the accident victim questions. Not to worry, your Ontario personal injury lawyer will be there to ensure that all the questions being asked are fair. Your Ontario personal injury lawyer will also prepare you for an examination for discovery ahead of time so you know what to expect. A court reporter will also be present to record the examination for discovery.
Sometimes in an examination for discovery, a question may be asked and the witness does not know the answer. Often times the Ontario personal injury lawyer and the lawyer for the insurance company will agree that the question can be answered later in writing as an undertaking. Your Ontario personal injury lawyer will help prepare the undertaking and assist you in answering any undertakings.
An examination for discovery often “gets all the cards out on the table”. The examination for discovery gives both sides a clear picture of all the facts in the Ontario personal injury law suit and allows for better communication and better chances of settling the Ontario personal injury lawsuit before it goes to court.
